How’s Camp Going?

So, June is almost over and I haven’t talked about Camp since I blogged about how I was going to do Camp NaNo.  There is a reason why I haven’t talked about it.

And that’s because I only wrote a few hundred words earlier this month.  So…Camp hasn’t been happening.  Perhaps I’ll give it a go in August, which should give me some time to come up with an idea and characters in everything.  Which reminds me…I should probably figure out what I’m going to write in November.  Before October would be preferable.  But with the way I procrastinate, I’ll probably figure it out in October.

I know I want to try my mermaid idea again, but I’ll definitely have to change it a bit from last year.  Especially now that I’ve read a lot more YA, and feel more comfortable actually writing something YA and paranormal.

Maybe I could work on NaNo during Camp NaNo?  Like work on a different character every or specific thing every day?  Oh, who am I kidding, I’m more of a pantser than anything else.  But maybe it’s worth a try…for once.

It should be fun, and I’ll definitely be talking about any progress I make.

Camping and Summer Reading Lists

First, I’m doing Camp NaNo again!  I’m excited, and while I haven’t written anything, I’m sure I can catch up.  It wouldn’t be the first time, and besides, it’s only 2 days, which is completely do-able.

I don’t really have an idea, just a girl who does stuff.  I know I want it to be a YA novel. but other than that, I have no clue what it’s about.  This means I’ll be making it up as I go along, which will be a lot of fun because there’s no pressure.  If there is, it’s a lot less pressure than November.  I’ll definitely be talking about my progress randomly this month.

And speaking of summer, there are a lot of books I want to read.  I’ve already read 93 books!  Isn’t that crazy?  It’s a lot of books, and yet, it feels like I haven’t read very much.  Especially on Top 10 Tuesday, when I realize there are a lot of books I haven’t read.

I have a couple books from the library I want to read.  One is Candyfreak, which I’ll be finishing soon.  The other is The Last Queen, which seems interesting.  I think I’ll like it.  I also have a couple library books on the way.  One is a cookbook, and the other is Looking For Alaska.

As for Nook books, I have a bunch of books on it that I need to read.  It’ll keep me busy for a while, so expect reviews for The Mysterious Benedict Society, Angelfall, Anew, and Illuminate, and more.  I’m definitely excited about all the books I purchased last month, and I can’t wait to keep reading!

June will be busy, but it will also be fun!  I can’t wait to read and do some “camping.”

Camp Is Over

Yesterday, I finished camp!  I’m a winner, and I have mixed feelings about it being over.  I’m glad, because I’ve been writing a lot this summer, and I don’t know if I would have written much of anything otherwise.  I got some ideas out of my head, which narrowed down my list of ideas for November.  And I did get a lot of writing done, which is always good.  I’m relieved that it’s over, because of the writing I’ve done over the last couple months.  I like writing, don’t get me wrong, but writing everyday for two months…I’m not used to it.

It’ll be weird, not writing so much, but I’m going to need some of that energy for November, and now I can focus on side projects and planning plot bunnies.  I’m serious this time, I really am going to pick up the planning again, and I’ll do some writing.  Just not on the same level that I’ve been doing for the last couple months.  It’s like, Camp’s over, now what do I do?  Still, I liked going to Camp, and I proved (to myself, of course) that I can write at other times during the year, especially if I decide I’m going to do it.  But overall, it seems like I need some kind of event, like NaNo (the original NaNo) or a Camp NaNo, to do it.  Maybe I’ll try it at some random time and see if I can get to 50,000 words.  I certainly have enough ideas out there to do it.

I won with 50,282!  And here’s my winner icon, to prove I won:

I Won Camp NaNo In August!

That about wraps it up, I’ll be back tomorrow!

Why Is It So Warm?

Goodness, it’s been a very warm summer.  It’s annoying, and all I want to do…is nothing!  Which is something I’ve been doing a lot of.

I’ve been writing, and I’m currently at 48,554, so I’ll be finished today!  Thank goodness.  As much as I love NaNo (and Camp NaNo too), I’ll be glad when I’m done.  I don’t know which is more exhausting, 2 straight months of NaNo or 3 novels in one month.  Maybe they’re on the same level…I don’t know exactly.

I’ve been going back and forth between the sims 3 and pottermore.  I’m still trying to get the hang of potions, but at least I have a couple of them down.  And all the comments on the website too!  It’s cool talking to people, and I’m definitely interested to see what they’ll be adding as each book comes out.  And the more time I spend there, the more I feel like a Hufflepuff.  Which I always was…so don’t huffle the puff!  Seriously…badgers are scary.  Don’t mess with us!

I think that’s it for today, so have a great day!

It’s Almost Over

Camp will be over in a couple days, and I’m relieved.  I like writing, and I’m glad I got these 2 fanfics out of my head, but after 2 months of writing pretty much everyday, I’ll be glad to take a much needed break.  I’m at 46,717 right now, so just over 3,000 words and I’ll be done.

As for my other writing, I didn’t do any last week.  I’m not too worried about it, since I’ve been doing more than my fair share of writing.  And I kinda wanted a break from the other stuff I’ve been working on.

Honestly, I didn’t realize how draining writing everyday was until I did it for almost two straight months!  I feel drained, and it really hasn’t been on my mind.

Not much else has been going on, otherwise.  I’ve been doing some reading, but I’ve read so much this month, that I need a little break from that too.  I do have several books I’m reading, and I’m on a waiting list for a few others, a couple of which I’m waiting very impatiently for.  So next month, I’ll probably have quite a few book reviews too.

I think that’s all for now, so have a great day!

Just, You Know, Writing

I, of course, did some writing yesterday, and now that August is coming to a close, I’ve been trying to stay on target.  It’s working, and I’m definitely glossing over things at this point.  I don’t particularly care if I skip things over, because I’m skipping ahead to the action.  I’m throwing in more than a few placeholders in the event that I actually want to go back and edit this thing.

Doing NaNo two months in a row…it’s definitely different.  You think one NaNo, with 2 novels is hard, trying doing one novel two months in a row.  It’s a lot more exhausting doing it 2 months in a row, believe me.  I’m glad I got the 2 ideas out of my head, and I’m glad I did fanfiction both times.  I just wasn’t up to doing anything original, so I should be ready by November.  I’m ready for a break, and it’ll be nice working on my plot bunnies, which should be a lot easier to focus on because I won’t be focusing on writing…at least too much.

I’m at 40,367, and if I keep writing a couple hundred extra words, I’ll definitely finish early.  Finishing early is a slightly weird concept to me still, but it does happen every once in a while, and it’s a nice change from writing until an hour or two before midnight.  Plus, if I finish early, I don’t have to worry about something happening and not being able to get that wordcount in.  That’s, like, my biggest fear, so finishing early definitely minimizes that.

I’ll keep writing, and it’ll be fun crossing that finish line again.  And it’ll be a big relief too.

Good Weekend For Writing

It’s been a while since I’ve talked about writing, so today is the day for talking about it!  Because a few days is a really long time and all.

Things are going along pretty well, and I’m finally all caught up!  Hopefully I’ll be able to get to 50k.  Actually, I’m sure I will, since I’m very determined to finish.  I’m not going to be working on this idea anytime soon, but I might pick it back up in a few months.  Most importantly, though, I need a break from writing.  Not completely, but I definitely want to slow things down.

I’m currently at 35,136 words, and wrote a total of 8,299 words on Friday, Saturday and Sunday to get my word count back to normal!

Speaking of slowing things down, I think I might really slow things down.  Last week, I wasn’t in the mood to work on all 6 of my “side projects,” so I just did 3.  I think I’ll the other 3 this week and see how it all works out.  I’m not sure if that’s something I want to continue in September or October, but since I won’t be writing any 50k novels in the next 2 months, I might do all 6.

It is something to consider for November, though.  I feel like I could handle 2 50k novels plus the 1500 or so words per week for the other 6.  One novel plus various projects is a lot different than 2 novels and various projects.  I was hoping to have at least one or two finished by November, but at the rate I’m going, I’m not sure if anything will be finished by then.  I guess I won’t know for sure until November.

It’s weird though.  I’ve been writing something pretty much everyday, and it’s been fun.  But at the same time, weird too.  I’m definitely not used to writing so much, and it’s really different writing in a month that isn’t November.  And not the 15oo or so a week, but writing an actual novel in a non-November month!  It’s been hard to find the motivation the last couple months, but I manage to do it…somehow.

I’ll be back with more tales from my camping adventure!

Unsettled

Yesterday, I had this really unsettling dream.  It started off with me in backyard, and I was a very young child.  There was also a young boy, and then we were magically at a church, and we were in this small room watching tv.  There was this report of this girl who had gone missing a couple years earlier, and what she might look like now.  Then the reporters were talking about a girl who died because she went missing and they couldn’t find her in time.  It turned out they checked some area, and she was in on of the crates, which were conveniently not checked.  The guy who checked that particular area felt guilty because if he looked in the crates, she would have been alive.  I distinctly remember picking out a couple books and some jelly beans being knocked over.

The most unsettling part was when I woke up feeling like I was both of the girls who had gone missing.  I definitely got the impression that the case of the 2 different girls going missing were not related.  I’m not sure what it all means, because sometimes a dream is just dream.  Still, it was really unsettling, and I couldn’t get it out of my mind.

So: for something that’s not weird, Camp is going pretty well, and I’m not behind, but I’m not ridiculously ahead or anthing either.  Still doing some non-Camp writing, but no planning for November stuff.  I’m debating whether I should do it this month or next month.  We’ll see, though.  I really have been saying that a lot lately, haven’t I?  I’m just not really in the mood to do any planning, even though I know I should.

My current wordcount is 10,009.  Week 2 is upon us, and I’m not a big fan of week 2.  Still, I always manage to get through it, which is always amazing.  I’m also anxiously awaiting my pottermore welcome email, and I’m kind of-sort of checking my email obsessively to see if it’s there, even though I know it won’t be here this early.  I suppose it could be, but it would be a big surprise if it were.  They weren’t kidding when they said the clues would get easier over the course of a week.

I think that’s it, so have an amazing day everyone!

Yesterday Was A Smashing Day

In terms of writing, yesterday was a really good day.  I’m currently at 7,759 words, well ahead of where I should be.  Yesterday was just one of those days where I couldn’t stop writing, and I figured I might as well take advantage of it.  I’m definitely going to keep up the pace, if I can, because you never know when you’ll need those extra words.  Maybe I can use the time to work on my other stuff…

There’s all kinds of things in store for this novel and I’ve even added a few new characters.  I’m hoping I can remember them all.  If not, I’ll pretend like I remember their names.

According to the stats page, I wrote 3,871 words today!  So if I keep up the same pace (or at least somthing very similar), then I’m set to finish on August 19.

Like that would actually happen…not in a million years would I finish *that* early.  It’s likely, but…I tend to be a procrastinator, and if I do finish early, it’s likely to be a day or two early, not close to 2 weeks early.

On to…baking!  It’s been way too hot to bake, although I could default to the middle of the night, which isn’t too warm.  And honestly, I prefer baking in the middle of the night anyway.  But lately, I’ve been feeling…weird.  And I haven’t really felt like it anyway, but I want to, since I’ll have to return the cookbooks I have soon.  Unless I can renew them, of course, which I’ll try to do.

I think that’s it for today, so have a good one!

Ready For Another Session!

I have a very vague idea for my August novel, so I’m just going to write and see what happens.  It’ll be fun, I think, as long as I don’t get bored or anything.  Even if I do get bored, I have a list of back-ups.  And this month, we get to be a part of cabins, which seem to be a more toned down form of the NaNo forums.

I’m currently at 3,888 words, and I’m having no problem keeping things moving.  I doubt it’ll last very long, but if I can keep up this pace, I should be good for the rest of the week!

And Pottermore!  I got in!  On the first day!  I checked it sometime after midnight, and the clue was up, so I figured it out and got my registration email, and validated!  Now I’m waiting for the welcome email, which will come sometime this summer.  I can’t believe I finally got my letter to Hogwarts!  I’ve seen some sneak peaks of Pottermore, and it looks amazing!  I’m seriously excited about Pottermore!  I even did a happy dance after registering, and I did another one after I validated!  I’m pretty sure I’ll be talking it about it once I get my welcome letter.  I’m really excited, can you tell by all the exclamation points?  I even love my username, which is SpiritCharm15, so if anyone’s going to be doing Pottermore at some point, look me up!

I think that’s it, so have a great day!
