Yesterday Was A Smashing Day

In terms of writing, yesterday was a really good day.  I’m currently at 7,759 words, well ahead of where I should be.  Yesterday was just one of those days where I couldn’t stop writing, and I figured I might as well take advantage of it.  I’m definitely going to keep up the pace, if I can, because you never know when you’ll need those extra words.  Maybe I can use the time to work on my other stuff…

There’s all kinds of things in store for this novel and I’ve even added a few new characters.  I’m hoping I can remember them all.  If not, I’ll pretend like I remember their names.

According to the stats page, I wrote 3,871 words today!  So if I keep up the same pace (or at least somthing very similar), then I’m set to finish on August 19.

Like that would actually happen…not in a million years would I finish *that* early.  It’s likely, but…I tend to be a procrastinator, and if I do finish early, it’s likely to be a day or two early, not close to 2 weeks early.

On to…baking!  It’s been way too hot to bake, although I could default to the middle of the night, which isn’t too warm.  And honestly, I prefer baking in the middle of the night anyway.  But lately, I’ve been feeling…weird.  And I haven’t really felt like it anyway, but I want to, since I’ll have to return the cookbooks I have soon.  Unless I can renew them, of course, which I’ll try to do.

I think that’s it for today, so have a good one!

Ready For Another Session!

I have a very vague idea for my August novel, so I’m just going to write and see what happens.  It’ll be fun, I think, as long as I don’t get bored or anything.  Even if I do get bored, I have a list of back-ups.  And this month, we get to be a part of cabins, which seem to be a more toned down form of the NaNo forums.

I’m currently at 3,888 words, and I’m having no problem keeping things moving.  I doubt it’ll last very long, but if I can keep up this pace, I should be good for the rest of the week!

And Pottermore!  I got in!  On the first day!  I checked it sometime after midnight, and the clue was up, so I figured it out and got my registration email, and validated!  Now I’m waiting for the welcome email, which will come sometime this summer.  I can’t believe I finally got my letter to Hogwarts!  I’ve seen some sneak peaks of Pottermore, and it looks amazing!  I’m seriously excited about Pottermore!  I even did a happy dance after registering, and I did another one after I validated!  I’m pretty sure I’ll be talking it about it once I get my welcome letter.  I’m really excited, can you tell by all the exclamation points?  I even love my username, which is SpiritCharm15, so if anyone’s going to be doing Pottermore at some point, look me up!

I think that’s it, so have a great day!

Let’s Talk About…Camp!

It’s been a while since I’ve talk about camp, so I thought today would be a good time for that.  I’m about 8oo words behind, and I’m starting to get a little bored with my novel.  I ended up doing a couple flash fictions, and that seemed to help a little.  Plus, throwing in a couple members of the team disappearing seemed to kick-start it…at least for the moment, but I feel like that’s going to be wrapped up soon.

My other writing is going okay, but very slowly at the moment.  It’s been a relief to work on something else this week.  I haven’t worked on any of my plot bunnies, and while I keep telling myself that I’m going to work on them, I don’t.  I’ll have to get around to that soon, since time is going by really fast, and November will be here before we know it!

I’ve been reading, although not as much as I have been.  Hopefully, I’ll have a few book reviews in the next few days.  For some reason, I’m just not that into the books I’ve checked out.

I think that wraps up camp and everything, so I’ll leave you with my wordcount: 35,8633!

Yesterday…

Yesterday was an odd writing day for me.  I didn’t really want to write, but I told myself I had to write something…I just wasn’t feeling it, and I don’t know why!

Yesterday was not a catching up kind of day, and since I’m already behind, I didn’t want to add to that if at all possible.  I’m not sure when I’ll catch up, but I will at some point during the month.

As for my actual wordcount, I’m at 26,151, so if I’m going to get to 50,000 words this month, I need to write at least 1,703 words a day.  I can manage that, my only problem right now is actually writing.

I’ve been in a fan-fiction mood the last few days, so I’ve been reading a fair amount of it.  I’m not so much looking for new stories as I am reading a lot of the stories I loved when I first started reading fanfiction.  And I’ve been listening to the HP soundtracks a lot as well as listening to a lot of wizard rock.  I’m definitely feeling nostalgic, which I think explains a lot of it…and I’m thinking about doing a bunch of Harry Potter related posts this week.  I’m definitely going to do a review of the movie this week, but I’ll make sure to put up a spoiler alert when I do.

I have a bunch of books to read, so that’ll keep me busy, and today, I’m going to see Harry Potter again!  That movie review might come sooner than you think…

I suppose I should get some sleep, and hopefully, I’ll manage to get somewhat caught up on my reading and writing today.

Halfway There!

I’ve reached the halfway mark!  At least in terms of wordcount.  It was very exciting, and I definitely need to start wrapping things up.  I have a definite idea in mind now for it.  It’s strange how everything becomes more clear after the halfway point.  Currently, I’m at 25,069, so while I’m not caught up, I will be soon!

As for my other writing, I did work on a couple characters, as well as doing my other projects for the week.  I definitely like splitting them up over 2 or 3 days, as opposed to one each day.  Once I start writing, I want to keep going with something, so that’s what I’m going to stick with.  It is working, and since I’m all about doing what works these days, I should definitely do that.  I’m definitely hoping to have a rough draft finished for Turning Point, the Giant Prehistoric Chicken, and my NCIS fanfic by November  Maybe even one or two of my HP fanfics, depending on how much I write for them.  It’s weird, but exciting at the same time.

That’s about it, so have a great day!

Back To Camp

So, now it’s time to talk about Camp!  Wednesday, I wrote an extra 870 words, which meant I didn’t have to write nearly as much on Thursday.  I managed to finish up with Camp stuff early Thursday morning, since I couldn’t sleep.  And it worked out really well because I decided to work on a bunch of my Harry Potter fanfictions as I made my way through my Harry Potter marathon.

The whole working on one of my other projects every day didn’t work out too well, because I ended up writing most of them over the course of a couple days.  I think I’ll stick with that since it seems to be working.

As for Friday, I didn’t get any writing done.  I took a nap, and in general, took a break from writing.  Plus, my right hand was all twitchy for a while, and then it started to hurt, so I figured I’d rest it for the day.  I have my work cut out for me today, as I try to catch up on my writing and as I try to work on my other writing projects.

I’d better get to sleep, so have a great day everyone!

Is It Over Yet?

Yesterday, I was surprised that I managed to hit my 1667 goal.  We’re definitely in week 2, and I didn’t even need to look at the calendar or anything, because I have no idea what to do next.  I’ll go into my old standby of winging it…which I have been doing anyway, so I’m not sure what good that’ll do.

Yesterday was such a weird day.  I felt really tired, because I’m not sleeping very well, and yesterday was a “curl up in bed and watch tv day.”  I was hoping writing would distract me, but sadly, it really didn’t.

I’m at 20,155, so I’ll be at the halfway point this week!  Hopefully everything will be easy sailing after that.  I have to say, it’s turning out to be a lot different than I was expecting.  It’s focusing more on the micro-chip and what’s on it, and why it was in Levin’s arm, as opposed to who the mole is.  I still need to think about my ideas on what’s going to happen, but that can come later.  When, I don’t actually know, but I might get to it at some point.

According to the Camp NaNo stats, I’m on pace to finish July 29!  It’s weird, because usually I tend to finish the last day, but it would be nice to be done several days early for once.

Hopefully I get something done today, and things will pick up again.

Not Much Was Done Yesterday

Yesterday turned out to be…not very productive.  I did get some writing in, but not a lot.  It’s okay, though, because this is fun, and there are going to be ups and downs.

Still, I am having fun with it, and things are starting to fall into place.  I’m not as stressed out about it as I was last week, but that was a fun kind of stress, the kind that goes along with starting something new, and if it’ll work out okay.

My current wordcount is 19,185 words, which means I just need to write 819 today.  Who knows, maybe I’ll get on a roll, and write a lot more than I need to?  I definitely try to write as much as I can, but at the same time, sometimes I just need to stop at an earlier point.  I’ve been reassessing at different points- once at 667, then at 834, and again at 1000.  If I decide to keep writing, good, but if I don’t, then at least I wrote something.

For me, it’s not just about reaching a number: it’s about the actual writing, and telling the stories that I have in my head.  There are so many stories to be told, not just by me, but by others as well.  And if I can get that idea onto paper, then I accomplished what I set out to do.

Fact, Fiction and Folklore In Harry Potter’s World

Book: Fact, Fiction and Folklore in Harry Potter’s World by George Beahm

Pages and Length: 256/Paperback

What I Thought: The book goes into detail about the different people and myths found throughout the Harry Potter series.  It’s basically the story behind the story, and I found it to be really interesting.

It’s divided into 4 different sections- the fabulous beasts, famous wizards, magical objects and magical places.  I thought it was organized really well, and how connected a lot of the places and things and people were to different myths, legends, and history.  Each entry ranged from a few sentences to a page or two, and I was amazed at the different events and people and myths that she worked into the series.

I knew that she drew on different myths and stuff, but to see how much she really drew from that was completely amazing, and made me love the series even more.  The thought she put into it was something I didn’t fully realize until this book.  And I would recommend to everyone, not just Harry Potter fans, because of that.

I also liked the different quotes from J.K. Rowling scattered throughout the book, and it shed some light on the series as well.  One of the quotes was about how she saw a big fluffy ginger cat in London in the late ’80’s that looked like it ran face-first into a wall.  This cat would later become Hermione’s cat, Crookshanks.

Rating: 4 out of 5.  I felt like some entry’s were way to short, and others went a little longer than they should have, but overall, it was a great book.

I’m Staying On Track!

Before I get into my update on Camp, I hope everyone enjoyed the 2 posts yesterday!  I wasn’t expecting to do it, but I figured why not?

So onto Camp.  I’m still ahead of schedule, which is good, because I definitely want to have some extra words stashed away, just in case.  I really like how everything is relaxed this month, and I’m not stressing myself out.

I’m definitely trying to stay ahead of schedule, because I’d like to be able to take a day off and not have to worry about catching up.  Plus, if there comes a day where I don’t want to write (or can’t), then I can take some time off.  Or if I’m stuck, or any number of scenarios…I usually don’t have any problem catching up, so if I do get behind, it’s not that big of a deal, but if I can not write one day and not have to worry about catching up, then I’ll totally take that opportunity.

I think trying to stay ahead is something I want to do during November.  Whether I actually do so remains to be seen, but I will keep it as one of my top options.

I think that’s it for now, so have a great day!
