Santana

I like Santana, and since it’s been a while since I’ve listened to him, I thought it be a good time to give him a listen.  There’s such a good balance between instrumental songs and song with lyrics.  And the album art is always so interesting!

Santana, his first album, is one of my favorites.  Evil Ways and Soul Sacrifice are two of my favorite songs.  It’s rare that I like every single song, but I think this is one of the very few things I can listen to all the way through.  The entire album is worth a listen.  The album art on this one is probably my least favorite.

From Abraxas, I like Singing Winds, Crying Beasts and Black Magic Woman/Gypsy Queen for my favorite songs.  But I like pretty much every song…again, a rarity for me.  The album art is really cool too.

Santana III: No One To Depend On is one of my favorite songs, as is Everybody’s Everything.  Oh, and Everything’s Coming Our Way is also pretty good!  While I don’t like it as much as Santana or Abbraxas, overall, it’s pretty good.  The album art is really interesting.

Caravanserai is my least favorite.  Nothing really stands out, and it sounds very different than the first three.  The best way to describe it is abstract.  But at least the album art is cool!

Borboletta: I think it might tie with Caravanserai as my least favorite album pf his that I have.  Borboletta is really similar to Caravanersai, which might be why I don’t really care for it.  It’s interesting, but there’s something very abstract about it.  And like pretty much every other album, it has really cool album art.

That’s it for today, so have a great Monday!

U2

I can’t believe that I haven’t talked about U2 yet!  I seriously love them…but for some reason, I only have a couple of their earlier albums, their 2 most recent ones, and a couple other songs.

No Line On The Horizon: I’m going to be honest, and say that this is my least favorite.  Only Put On Your Boots, Stand Up Comedy, and Fez- Being Born stand out.  The rest just kinda blends together.

How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb is pretty good, and I really like Sometimes You Can’t Make It On Your Own.  It’s not only one of my favorite song by U2, but it’s one of my favorites off of How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb.  Vertigo?  Love it!  All Because of You and City Of Blinding Lights are also some of my favorites.

All That You Can’t Leave Behind: I don’t have the complete album.  Instead, I just have a couple songs.  Beautiful Day is one of my favorite songs of all-time, and if you haven’t heard it, you should listen to it.  Elevation is a pretty good song too.

The Joshua Tree is one of my favorites.  Where The Streets Have No Name, I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For and With Or Without You are my favorites.  I also like One Tree Hill and Red Hill Mining Town.  Overall, it’s a pretty good album, and worth a listen.

War is probably my favorite of the four.  Overall, it’s just amazing.  Sunday Bloody Sunday?  I find myself singing along.  Same thing with Seconds, New Year’s Day, and Red Light.  It’s so hard to pick a favorite, because all of them are so good, but I think the 4 I mentioned are the ones I listen to the most.

They’re definitely one of my favorites, and I don’t listen to them enough.  I think I need to listen to them more!

Another Random Playlist

The other day, I decided that I needed another playlist.  And I thought I’d share some of the songs on it.

  • In This Divide by Azam Ali: I came across her website on stumble upon, and listened to this song.  Her music seems to be a mix of Middle Eastern and electronic.  Some of her songs are in English, and others are not.  I like that she blends genres so well.
  • Miss Invisible by Marie Digby would be on there.  I like it, and I think it’s something that everyone can relate to.
  • A bunch of songs by Sara Haze would be on it.  Nothing else needs to be said, because I will do whatever I can to work her into as many playlists as I possibly can.
  • Losing My Religion by R.E.M.  I love this song!  No clue why, but this song is on the list!  There’s something very comforting about this song.
  • Champagne Supernova by Oasis: It’s my other favorite Oasis song (because who doesn’t love Wonderwall) and it’s a good song.  It always makes me smile.
  • Shiny Happy People: by R.E.M.: It’s called Shiny Happy People, how can you not like it?  Song title aside, it’s another favorite song of mine.
  • Uncharted by Sara Bareilles: I think I love the music more than the song, but overall, another song that I like.  This song always makes me smile.
  • Dirt Road Anthem by Jason Aldean: No playlist is complete without country music!  This song has been out for a while but it’s one of my favorites.  It’s a fun song, and fun songs are good.
  • Something To Believe In by Parachute: I’m a big fan of Parachute, and I love this song.  It makes me happy, and always puts me in a good mood.

So that’s the playlist!  I think I’m in a U2 and Santana kind of mood, so be on the lookout for posts about them in the next few weeks.

A Random Playlist

I created this playlist recently, mostly because I noticed that I was listening to a few songs in a particular order.  It’s a mix of songs I have, and songs I would totally add to the list if I had them.  I thought it might be a good idea to create a playlist for those songs.  Here are just a few of them.

  • Keep Your Head Up by Andy Grammer: I’ve been listening to this song a lot lately.
  • Boys and Girls by Pixie Lott: I love this song, and I have no idea why.  But it’s fun a song.
  • Turn Me On by Nicki Minaj: I’m not a huge fan of Nicki Minaj, but I love this song.
  • Lights by Ellie Goulding: I am such a big fan of Ellie Goulding.  If you haven’t heard this song, go listen to it now.
  • Safe And Sound by Taylor Swift: One, I love Taylor Swift.  Two, this is the perfect song as the theme for the Hunger Games movie.  If it is not, for some insanely stupid reason, it should be.  Seriously, it fits the book so well, it’s not even funny.  It’s very haunting, and it makes me cry.
  • Breathe Me by Sia: One of my favorites right now.  I think I like the music more than anything else…
  • Talk by Coldplay: I’m not the biggest fan of Coldplay, and have no idea why they’re considered alternative.  But this is one of my favorite songs by them.

So there we have it!  Enjoy your Monday!

Grammys!

I don’t normally watch the Grammy’s but given the fact that I didn’t really listen to any music over the last week, and had no idea what to talk about, music or podcast wise, I figured I’d watch part of it.  I am sad about Whitney Houston dying, because she was so talented!

I only saw bits and pieces of most of it, since I was going back and forth between the Grammy’s and other stuff.

Here are my random thoughts:

  • Marc Anthony presenting best rap performance was a little odd, but I guess it doesn’t really matters who the presenters are.
  • loved Kelly Clarkson and Jason Aldean’s performance.  And the set was cool- there was something very steampunk about it.
  • didn’t like Rihanna’s performance with Chris Martin
  • I’m not sure who performed right after that, but I loved it.  Was it OneRepublic, because something of that performance (and the song) reminded me of them.
  • Loved Pauley Perrette as a presenter for best rock performance.  And I loved her dress.
  • I can totally see Maroon 5 covering the Beach Boys. and performing with them.
  • has Ryan Seacrest ever hosted the Grammys?  If not, then that is very surprising.
  • I loved Taylor Swift and The Civil Wars.
  • It’s been years since I’ve watched the Grammys but it seems more concert than award show.  Granted, it is honoring music…but seriously.  Where are all the awards?  Probably in the 2 hours I was flipping back and forth between other shows.
  • Chris Brown twice?  Did they have a hard time coming up with performers or something?
  • Not surprised Adele won for song of the year.  But considering that no one else stood a chance in a category that has Adele nominated…
  • Would it be weird to say that Katy Perry had on a lot more clothes than I expected?  Her performance was a little strange.
  • Not surprised that Lady Antebellum, but I am slightly surprised that Taylor Swift didn’t win.  It would’ve been cool if Blake Shelton won since his wife was presenting.

And it was at that point I stopped watching because I was bored.  I suppose I should take a look at who won sometime today…

Sara Haze

I am a big fan of Sara Haze.  I think I came across her music on Pandora…or was it the recommendation thing on iTunes?

Either way, I’m a fan.  I have only, like, 3 songs of hers, but I’ve heard a few others of hers on Pandora.  So there won’t be an album ranking or anything like that.

Cold In California- that song pops up a lot.  I like it.  But I think Lovely is my favorite song that I’ve heard.  The Big Lie and Shine are really good songs too.  There’s something very uplifting and positive about her music, and I can’t help but smile and feel happy.  Listening to her music always puts me in a good mood, so when I need cheering up, I know I can listen to her music.

She’s really talented, and I really would like to see another album from her.  One can only hope.

I can’t think of anything else to add, other than I’m glad I stumbled across her music.  I suppose it’s time to get listening to some more music!

Music To Work Out To

I like listening to music when I’m at the gym.  And while I’m sometimes in the mood for listening to random music, I usually stick with my workout playlist.  I thought I’d share some of the songs on that playlist.

  •  Ice Ice Baby is one of the more random songs, but there is a purpose to it’s inclusion.  It keeps me going and distracts me from how much time I have left because I’m too busy trying not to start rapping.
  • Forever by Chris Brown.  It’s fun, but other than that, I have no clue why it’s on there.
  • Airplanes by B.o.B.  This is a good song for the end of my workout when I’m tired and wanted to stop.
  • Pretty much every Ke$ha song I own.  Her stuff is pretty energetic.
  • Fear by Stop Making Friends.  Another good song for when I start feeling a little tired and want to stop after 10 minutes.

Looking at that list, I feel like it’s missing a few songs, so I may have update it!

An Inspirational And Uplifting Playlist

I didn’t listen to anything new last week, mainly because I was trying to catch up on podcasts.

Instead, I will be sharing some songs that are on my inspirational/uplifting podcast, one that has an astounding 85 songs.  It usually puts me in a good mood whenever I need some cheering up, or whenever I feel inspired or happy.

  • So Small by Carrie Underwood: I love this song, and it deserves its spot on the playlist.  I can’t put my finger on why it puts me in a good mood, but it does.
  • You Gotta Be by Des’ree: It always cheers me up, and I always feel like things will be okay.
  • Walk You Home by Karmina: This song is good at reminding me that it’s okay to ask for help sometimes.
  • Lovely by Sara Haze: When I’m being hard on myself, this is one of the first songs I go to.  It’s a good reminder that I’m fine the way I am and that I don’t need to change myself to make other people happy.
  • I Don’t Want To Be by Gavin DeGraw: Another favorite for when I’m hard on myself.  Basically, I like it for the same reason for the I like Lovely.

I think that wraps it up for today, so have a great day!

Norah Jones!

I have been listening to Norah Jones for the last week.  I had forgotten how much I like her.  There is something so relaxing and calming about her music.

I think Come Away With Me is my favorite album of hers, although The Fall is a pretty close second.  I think Feels Like Home would be my third pick, and Not Too Late would be last.  If I were going to rank them.

As for favorite songs, also tough.  But Shoot The Moon and Seven Years are probably my two favorites.  I also like Don’t Know Why and Come Away With Me…very cliché, I know.  But they’re both really good songs!  Chasing Pirates (from The Fall), Sunrise and Creepin’ In (from Feels Like Home) and Wish I Could (from Not Too Late) are some other favorites are mine.

Come Away With Me is probably the album that people are most likely to have, but I definitely recommend her other ones.  Seriously, go check them out.

I can’t wait to see what she produces next!

Is There Such A Thing As Too Much Music?

I like music.  It’s fun to listen, and depending on my mood, I have quite a few things I can listen to.  Feeling dramatic?  I have soundtracks.  Something to work out to?  I have upbeat, fun music that keeps me going.  Feeling down?  I have “inspirational” and uplifting music.

Half the time I feel like I’m on some quest to find more music.  Pandora has introduced me to some great music.  As much as I want to expand my music collection, sometimes I just can’t seem to find something to listen to.  Like I have too many choices and n0thing seems to fit my mood.  Either that or I’m bored with my music.

I definitely want to expand my musical horizons, but at the same time, I don’t want to overdo it, and find a lot of music I’ll only listen to a few times and then never listen to again.

I think I’ll be listening to Pandora a lot more, since I’ve added a bunch of stations to it over the last few weeks or so.  Hopefully I’ll find something new to listen to!

Perhaps some new playlists are in order too.

I think that’s it for today, so have a great day!
