Ding, Ding, Ding, You Are A Winner!

I won!  I can’t believe that I won!  It took me 4 different ideas, almost a week off of writing, and a lot of complaining and forcing myself to write to get there.  But I managed to get 50,381 words!  I didn’t finish on Monday like I had planned, but I’ll take finishing. 

I'm A Winner!

 I managed to win, and Harry Potter totally saved me.  When in doubt, write about Harry Potter. 

I did a happy dance to Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer, because that’s what I was listening to when I won, and I had a cookie.  I knew I’d win today, so I made some cookies as my celebratory treat!

I Think I’ll Finish Early!

I really do think I’m going to be finishing NaNo early.  I’m so close to 50,000 words, and it only took me four different ideas to do it! 

I didn’t write that much yesterday- I wrote but being a little ahead, I decided to go easy on myself.  So while I just need to write 700 words, but knowing me, I’ll try to write a lot more than that.  I’m just 5,579 words away! 

I decided to pair Hermione up with Anthony Goldstein for now, but it’s very strange writing something that I know won’t get much past the beginning chapters.  But an idea is an idea, and this is something I see myself as potentially working on at some point in the future.

I’m hoping to finish either tomorrow or on Tuesday and I guess I’ll figure out what to do from there.

Why On Earth Did My Writing Mojo Come So Late?

My plan to get ahead seemed to work yesterday.  I’m a day ahead of schedule!  I wasn’t expecting it, and I was certainly going to stop after my typical 1,667 words.  But I decided to keep going, and finding a good stopping place seemed to be really hard.  I think I’m going to keep writing today, and if I keep up the 2000 to 3000 word a day pace, I’ll even finish early, which would be a miracle.  I even wrote with Christmas music in the background because I was in a Christmas music kind of mood!  I tried listening to classical music, but it didn’t work because I want something fun to sing along to, and Christmas music is definitely good for that.

I’m currently at 43,406 words, and everyone will be finding out who their match is pretty soon.  I still don’t know who I want Hermione to be matched up, but there are a few people I have in mind.  I’m going back and forth between Anthony Goldstein, which came out of absolutely nowhere, and Seamus.  I toyed with Kingsley for a while, but wasn’t in the mood to write about him paired up with Hermione.  Unless I change my mind, which I’ve been doing a lot of this month.

All Caught Up!

I’ve been managing to keep up with my writing, and I’ve managed to put a pretty good dent into my word count. 

My HP fanfic is turning into a very bizarre marriage law fanfic.  It’s going pretty well, but I’m also pretty sure I won’t be visiting it again.  I might, but if I do it’ll be a while before I get around to it. 

I’m all caught up!  I can’t believe I managed to get completely caught up.  I’m even a little ahead, and there’s a pretty good chance I’ll keep up the pace and maybe even get ahead of pace!

I’m at 40,152 words, so just under 10,000 words to go, and I’ll be done.  I can’t believe it, but it figures that as November comes to a close, I would get the most excited about writing. 

There’s not much else to report, so I’ll be back tomorrow!

Feeling Good About Writing

I feel pretty good about writing right now, so that’s good right?  I’m currently having no trouble writing, and last night, I didn’t want to stop.  There is no guilt (for the moment) so that’s good, and it’s a lot easier to write when I’m not feeling distracted and stuff. 

I’m currently at 35,277 words, writing an astounding 2,495 words!  If I write around 1700 words a day, I’ll finish on time.  I still have no clue what I’m doing with it, so I’m writing whatever pops into my head right now.  Although that does seem to be working for the moment…

Yesterday was a little busy, but fun!  I made apple pie for the first time, and I think it’ll come out okay when I bake it on Thanksgiving. 

My grandma was showing me a bunch of pictures she found, and it was really cool.  They were pictures of her family and there were a few of when she married my grandpa.  It’s fun seeing pictures of her when she was little, and even though I didn’t recognize a lot of the people in the pictures, it was fun to see a part of her life.

Today’s plan is to make cookies!  I was thinking about chocolate chip, but I also want to make peanut butter cookies.  I’m more in a mood for peanut butter, so maybe that’s what I’ll do today.  I’m pretty sure the mess will be a lot smaller than the mess that followed the apple pie I made yesterday.  It’s too bad I didn’t get a picture of the kitchen…

I think that’s it for now, so I’ll try and get some sleep, since I’m going to be busy today.

Counting Down The Days

This time last year, I was in love with writing and NaNo and writing all kinds of cool and funny stuff. 

This year is the complete opposite.  I want November to be over, because I don’t really have an interest in working on anything new.  It’s a weird feeling for me, because I always look foward to NaNo, and I hate that this year, I’m struggling to muster up some feeling and energy. 

As much as I love the roller derby idea, I think I might shelve until next year and do a rewrite.  Or write a little for each day, but spend most of my energy on something else. 

I definitely feel the need to work on a few of my “old” writing projects and I might, but I don’t think I’ll include them in my word count.  I feel like I shouldn’t include anything that’s from an old project, so I’m at a crossroad.  It is all on the honor system, and I want to honor the honor system and work on brand new things for NaNo!  Not work on old stuff because I don’t feel like writing anything new.   

I could always piece it together by writing random stuff, like I did back in July when my NCIS fanfic didn’t work out. 

Speaking of fanfiction, though, I am feeling the need to write something Harry Potter related, which crossed my mind over a week ago.  I should have gone with that…but I did start up a harry potter fanfic yesterday.  That’s the most inspired I’ve been all month but I have no clue what it’s about, other than Hermione and Seamus live in the same apartment building, she’s not dating Ron and doesn’t really talk to Harry and the Weasley’s, except for George.  This should be interesting, and it couldn’t be any more vague.   

Since I have a few different novels now, I think I’m just going to do a general update on everything, and maybe mention individual projects that I’m working on. 

My grand total for the month is 32,782 words, so I’m still off pace, but I’m also feeling confident I can catch up.  Words will come, they always do!  I suppose that’s it for today, so I should get some writing done.

Writing Away

I wrote yesterday!  Not a lot, but I wrote.  Something is better than nothing, but I’m finding that it’s hard to settle in with writing after not doing it for the better part of a week.

Not much is going on with the roller derby novel, but I decided to forgo setting things up (for now) and just jump right in with some of the action.  Timmy’s blackmailing people and bribing them and leaking their secrets to the public! 

I’m at 4,408 for the roller derby novel, which brings me up to 31,675.  I just need to write 1,667 a day, and I’m good to go!  Writing is still a little hard for me right now, but I’m still pretty excited about it, so that all balances out in my book.  Although part of that excitment might be because I’m slowly getting closer to 50,000 words…

Either way, though, it’s been a really interesting NaNo this year.  I’ll be back tomorrow with some kind of update!

Good Word Day

Yesterday was a pretty good day for writing.  It turns out that I’m almost 900 words behind schedule, but I’m confident in my ability to make that up.  Especially if I have a really good writing day or if I add a few hundred words a day.  Maybe both would be a good idea!

So the roller derby novel is working out pretty well so far, but that’s probably because I’m excited about a new project.  Yesterday was the first time I felt really excited about writing and NaNo since the 1st, and I hope I can keep it up until the 30th. 

My roller derby novel is at 3,541 words, and with my other 2 novels, I’m at 30,802 words.  So I have around 19,200 words left!  That’s exciting and if I can get to 40,000 words, then the last 10,000 will be easy-peasy! 

I know this is a short post, but I’ll be back tomorrow with an update!

Today Is The Day!

No writing was done yesterday, however, that changes today because I am going to be writing again!  I do feel inspired and ready to start writing! 

Since I didn’t write yesterday, my word count is a little behind, but I’m sure I can catch up today.  If I don’t, I’ll do it…sometime this month. 

I feel a little relieved, like I’ve gotten everything down to a manageable level.  Don’t get me wrong, I love writing 2 novels in a month, but this year, it’s just not going to happen.  Just because I have 2 novels doesn’t mean I have to stick with it for the month. 

Today is going to be a good day, and it’ll be great to get some writing done!

I’m Still Here!

I know my last post was on Monday…and I actually had to check since I couldn’t remember when my last post was!

Monday was the last time I wrote anything, so my 2 ideas from the first couple weeks have been “blown up.”  It was really more killing people off and wrapping up some loose ends very loosely but at least I gave an ending to them.  I did write around 1,000 words for the roller derby one, and while I’m still feeling pretty lackluster, I feel positive that I will reach 50,000 words.  If that means piecing together a few beginnings and some random things I write, then that’s what I’ll do.

I think I’ll start writing tomorrow, or maybe even tonight, if I feel so inclined.  But definitely tomorrow.  Taking a few days off will hopefully help- maybe that break will help me out and I’ll get a second wind.  Not that I had one in the first place, but something would be nice, even if it’s a few wisps of excitement.  I haven’t been reading a lot this month, but I suppose I should finish those couple books I’ve been reading for a few months.
