Top 10 “Older” Books I Don’t Want People To Forget About
This week, I’m going back in time to talk about “older” books I don’t want people to forget about. Or as I like to call it, books from my childhood I don’t want to forget about. Here’s my list!
- The Babysitters Club by Ann M. Martin. I loved this series, and it’s nice to see a bunch of 13-year-olds who are still fairly innocent. It’s such a contrast to a lot of the books out today.
- The Sweet Valley Universe by Francine Pascal. This is another I immediately thought of, and honestly, I don’t know why I’m putting it on this list. But they were a big part of my childhood.
- Goosebumps by R.L. Stine. I’m not sure what R.L. Stine is up to these days, but I loved how you didn’t need to read everything in order. In fact, you could skip books, because it wasn’t one continuous story.
- The Perks Of Being A Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. I haven’t read this one in forever, but it’s on my mind because of the movie.
- Angus, Thongs, And Full-Frontal Snogging by Louise Rennison. I remember reading this book, but I don’t remember a lot of it. Still, I love that it’s just the life of a girl. I feel like we don’t see enough of that.
- The Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants by Ann Brasheres. It’s a book about friendship, which is something that seems pretty rare in YA these days. Having books about friendship is good.
- Bridge To Terabithia. I loved this book in elementary school. I just love the story, and the friendship between Jess and Lesley and the imaginary world they created.
- The Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot. I’ve finally started re-reading this series, and I still love it. It’s nice to see Mia work through everything in her diary. Plus, it’s just a fun read.
- A Tree Grows In Brooklyn by Betty Smith. I loved this book, and I love how it’s a great coming-of-age story. I just loved seeing her grow up. It’s the only one on this list I didn’t read as a kid, and it’s a shame it took me so long to read it.
- Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White. I haven’t read this book in forever but I just loved it! It’s such a good story.
Are there any books you don’t want people to forget about?
oh i loved charlotte’s web-nicely done today. kaye—the road goes ever ever on
Thanks! I haven’t read it in forever, so I might have to read it again sometime. actually, I could say that about most of the books on my list.
The Perks of Being a Wallflower is one of my favorites too. I’m glad the movie is coming out so more people will read the book!
I’m sure the movie will spark a lot of interest in the book. It’s such a great book.
